Abdominal and pelvic ultrasound
Ultrasound is an excellent diagnostic tool for evaluating the abdominal and pelvic organs. It is often the first examination performed after a physical assessment, either in response to symptoms or as a routine screening. In most cases, no other diagnostic procedures are necessary, as ultrasound can accurately identify the cause of complaints. However, sometimes further tests may be indicated, such as laboratory tests, CT, or MRI. Abdominal and pelvic ultrasound is also part of a “focus search” when there is a suspicion of inflammation or tumor in the body, for example due to hair loss, rashes, or abnormal lab results.
